What happens during counselling?

Counselling provides a private and confidential environment for a client to talk openly and freely about aspects of their life and feelings in a way that may not be possible with friends or family.

The Counsellor’s training enables them to patiently listen to the client and begin to u nderstand these difficulties from the client’s point of view. The Counsellor will try to help the c lient see these difficulties more clearly. This empowers the client to see the options open to them and enables them to decide the best way forward.

A counsellor will not tell a Client what to do or give advice, but will help you make your own choices.
